About Dr. Adam

Adam Cotsen, M.D.

Psychotherapist and Psychiatrist

Life can get chaotic and confusing, and it's hard to know who to turn to when everything feels on the line. I’m a doctor who is here to help you find your way in life with a warm, practical mix of psychodynamic and cognitive/behavioral psychotherapy for individuals and couples. And, as an M.D., I'm also happy to give you a sense of whether medication might help and prescribe it for you if necessary, hence keeping all your potential needs under one roof.

After graduating from Tufts Medical School and Harvard undergrad, I did my residency in psychiatry at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and was selected to join the faculty afterward. I received additional training in individual psychotherapy at the Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis and couples therapy at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute and served as a consultant for HBO's Sex and the City. I received additional psychopharmacological training at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute and continue to consult there on an active basis.

I have been involved in youth soccer as a coach and a referee. I volunteer with GiveAnHour.Org, which provides free mental health services to military personnel and their families, and with the outpatient rehabilitation program at the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center.

I am an active member of the American Psychiatric Association, the Southern California Psychiatric Society, the American Association of Couples and Sex Therapists, and the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

116 N. Robertson Blvd. Suite 908
Los Angeles, CA 90048

Please be careful driving to my office the first time, because Robertson Blvd. has four different numbering systems in my neighborhood. So make sure to enter 116 North Robertson Blvd into your GPS and Los Angeles as opposed to Beverly Hills, which is just across the street.

I'm just north of Alden (and south of Beverly Blvd.) in the Pacific Theaters building on the east side (across from the Ivy Restaurant). We share an underground parking lot with the Newsroom Cafe. Valet parking there is available for $10/hour and less if you get a cup of coffee from the Newsroom. Street parking is also available on Robertson and in the backstreets to the west of it.

I have my own little private waiting room on the 9th floor. Please make yourself comfortable there and press the button on the wall to let me know that you have arrived.
